The Center for Interfaith Relations is pleased to announce its 2014 Festival of Faiths Fall Forums. This year we celebrate community partners, shared spaces, and neighborhood dialogue that inspire social transformation and renewal. We invite the community to join us by participating in these events:

Jazz - blue backgroundThe Jazz Psalms Encounter: October 23, the Cathedral of the Assumption, 433 S. Fifth Street, 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. The Cathedral of the Assumption is pleased to host The Jazz Psalms Encounter with Music Serving the Word Ministries. The Jazz Psalms Encounter is a musical innovation that explores the depth and beauty of the Psalms, which unify the faiths of the Abrahamic Traditions. The performance will feature pianist, author and composer Chuck Marohnic, vocalists Carol Rogers and Tom Burch, and the Cathedral of the Assumption choir and singers. Prayers of peace and thanksgiving representing the local Abrahamic faith communities will be offered during the service. The event and adjacent parking are free. BB - blue backgroundBluegrass Bioneers Conference: October 24, University of Louisville; Oct. 25, Jefferson Community & Technical College; and October 26, Bellarmine University. This is a celebration of the genius of nature and human ingenuity. Bioneers connects people with breakthrough environmental and socio-cultural innovations around the world. SOCAP - blue backgroundNeighborhood Economics:November 12-13, Christ Church Cathedral, 421 S. Second Street. The Center for Interfaith Relations is proud to sponsor a two-day workshop on Neighborhood Economics, hosted by Social Capital Markets and the Parish Collective. Neighborhood Economics will explore the topic of whole communities and how to build economic resilience at the local level. This two-day event features keynote talks by Walter Brueggemann, influential theologian and Old Testament scholar, and Peter Block, author, consultant and speaker on the topic of whole communities. In addition, there will be plenaries, breakout sessions and dialogue with local and national leaders working to build healthy communities sustained by local economies. LPTS - blue backgroundEdwards-Presler Lectures: November 13, Louisville Seminary Caldwell Chapel, 1044 Alta Vista Road. Dr. Amos Yong, Professor of Theology & Mission at Fuller Theological Seminary and director of the Fuller Theological Seminary’s Center for Missiological Research, will deliver The Presler Lecture from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., on the topic “Doors to Dialogue and Mission: Openings Afforded by the Holy Spirit in a World of Many Faiths.” Dr. Susan Thistlethwaite, Professor of Theology and former President of the Chicago Theological Seminary, will deliver the Edwards Lecture from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m., on the topic “A Just Peace Approach to Ending the Global War on Women.” For more information visit: www.lpts.edu
