The Festival of Faiths is hitting the radio waves this week.

On Wednesday, April 24, at 1:30 p.m., Louisville Public Media’s Jonathan Bastian will interview Festival of Faiths keynote presenter Elizabeth Mattis Namgyel on 89.3-FM WFPL News Radio. Namgyel will talk about her programs for the May 14-19 Festival of Faiths and her role as a retreat master at Longchen Jigme Samten Ling retreat center in Colorado.

During the Festival, Namgyel will present Mind at Ease – Why We Meditate and the Way of the Bodhisattva, a mini-retreat, which will focus on the contemplative practices of Tibetan Buddhism in the West. That program will take place on Tuesday, May 14, from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Actors Theatre of Louisville.

On Sunday, May 19, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Galt House, Namgyel and her son, retreat master Dungse Jampal Norbu, will present Growing Up with Meditation: A Discussion Between Mother and Son. The two will share their unique experience of having dharma at the very core of family life and look at the riddle we all face: how to transform our closest relations, with all their love and struggle, into the ground of developing compassion.

A live stream of Jonathan Bastian’s interview with Elizabeth Mattis Namgyel will be available at www.wfpl.org.

On Saturday, April 27, Festival of Faiths Executive Director Kathleen Lyons and Communications Director Chris Wooton will be the guests on “Business Spotlight,” which will air from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on WGTK 970-AM.

Lyons and Wooton will talk about the Festival of Faiths theme of Sacred Silence: Pathway to Compassion as well as Festival of Faiths presenters and programs.
