Wisdom Wednesday: The Jesus Prayer through a guided practice

For this week’s #WisdomWednesday, we highlight classical realist painter Mary Minifie as she introduces the practice known as the Jesus Prayer during the 2015 Festival of Faiths. The Jesus Prayer is particularly esteemed by the spiritual fathers of the Eastern Orthodox Hesychast tradition as a method of opening the heart and brining about the “Prayer of the Heart.” This prayer is considered the unceasing prayer that the apostle Paul advocates in the New Testament.
