In advance of the anniversary of Thomas Merton’s epiphany (March 18, 1958), this week’s #WisdomWednesday features a clip from recordings of Merton teaching his novices at Gethsemani — a talk he delivered in the 1960s. In this audio clip, Merton tells us that the more we do things with love, even as ordinary as they might be, our knowledge of God increases without us realizing it. “You don’t go looking for an object called ‘God,’” Merton says. “You cultivate the awareness of love in a[n] awake heart. So you keep your heart awake to respond to God.”
